130 YEARS AGO

A young lady in the city received a note from a young man seeking an appointment at the railroad tracks near Treadways. After the young lady showed the note to her brother-in-law, it was decided to teach the man a lesson. A young boy was dressed in the woman's clothes. It being dark, the man, seeing the object of his desires on the railroad tracks, covered the youth in kisses. After the man's six shooter was removed, he was daubed with white wash. It is now expected his notes seeking appointments with young ladies will soon not be forgotten.

100 YEARS AGO

One of the best shows ever in Carson was given last night at the Wigwam. Tonight Uncle Josh Witcomb, a rural comedy will be presented.

70 YEARS AGO

Coach Albert Dawden, in charge of swimming classes for the Carson City Red Cross Chapter, announced today membership total 182 persons, 151 children and 31 adults.

50 YEARS AGO

The portrait of Nevada Day Indian Queen of 1953, by Miss Carolyn Edmundson has been returned to the Indian room of the Nevada State Museum. The painting, entitled, "Paiute Maiden," is a life-sized portrait of Lucille Sam of Schurz. The painting was shown in San Francisco.

20 YEARS AGO

Bones found near a grave site at Lone Mountain Cemetery by workers have been determined to be those of animals. Along with the bones, candles, a board with candle wax and broken wine glass were also found at the 1888 grave site.

10 YEARS AGO

Republicans and Democrats go to court in mirror image lawsuits demanding the Nevada Legislature finish legislative and congressional districts.
