NV Energy wins rate increase?

Frugality and common sense clash with going green. Our additional costs of $5.30 a month for the average customer helps destroy our way of life. Why do we have to pay for the removal of your old refrigerator? Why do we have to pay to winterize your home? Why are we penalized because we conserved on our electricity usage? The above was referenced as the reason for the monthly increase.

We are already paying for electric cars, windmills, etc., which do not deliver what they promised. Is it not enough that our electric bills reflect charges for temporary green power financing, renewable energy programs, local government fees or the new Carson City underground surcharge.

I think it's time that we the people turn the lights back on and see who is stuffing this down our throats.

In response to Janice Ayres on May 28, her note said "I was wrong" about them coming into Douglas County. Yet in her note, besides lifeline service, she states RSVP does not come to Douglas County.

I'm not trying to make trouble, just state it right. Services by RSVP are not offered in Douglas County to take seniors to doctors appointments, shopping, the bank, etc.

It's too bad that something can't be done about getting the two counties to work together to help all these seniors get around better.

I work for the state, not Douglas County, per se. The program that I volunteer for comes out of Sparks. They are Senior Companion Program, directed by Mary Brock. They go to all counties for the entire state of Nevada, and we can go into Douglas or Carson without someone referring them to Douglas or Carson.

Janice, I support all programs that benefit our seniors, as someone has to be out there helping them get around when they are homebound.

We concur with Mr. Aunkst's suggestion that the City Center Project be put on the ballot, along with the special election for a U.S. Representative.

This is a cost-effective way for the Board of Supervisors to learn the will of the people.

Warning to all pet owners - for your sake and the life of your pet, please be sure to have their teeth checked and cleaned when your vet recommends it. Doing so could save your pet's life.

I just lost my beloved pet because when he stopped eating for a couple days, I thought it was (that) he just didn't feel like it, as he was getting older and slower. But it was because he had four bad teeth and it hurt to eat but he could not tell me that. When a cat does not eat for two days, their liver can/will shut down, and it takes devotion, time and money to try to get it working again, and (there's) a very slim chance that it will restart.

I would like to thank Dr. Justin Pitts of Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital for his kindness and his help during the difficult time of trying to save my friend, but it was not to be. I guess kitty heaven needed Koko more then I.
