Carson City deputies responding to a report of an intrusion alarm at a laundromat Thursday morning discovered someone hadn't broken in, they were trying to get out.

According to the police report, the alarm at Wash Tub Coin Laundry at the corner of Airport Road and Woodside Drive sounded just before 5 a.m. When police arrived on scene saw a woman standing inside.

A 20-year-old woman told officers she and her boyfriend were at the business waiting for a ride the previous evening, when her boyfriend left to walk home.

But she'd decided to wait for the ride and sat down in the playroom. Eventually, she said, she fell asleep.

When she woke and stood up the motion detectors inside immediately sounded the alarms.

"So she waited by the front door," the report states.

There she stood when police arrived.

The manager of the business said he would talk to his employees about double-checking that the Laundromat is empty when they close down at 10 p.m.

The deputies offered the woman awarning.

"(She) was advised not to make a habit of falling asleep inside businesses," the report states.
