ALAMEDA - The Neptune Pearl scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to wipe out a 2-1 deficit and beat the Nevada Bulllets 6-3 in a Far West Collegiate League baseball game Thursday night at Willie Stargell Field.
The loss dropped Nevada to 3-3 in league play and 10-4 overall.
"The last two games we've had a chance to win," said Bullets manager Jim Blueberg, whose team lost two of three in the series. "One bad inning cost us each time. We had our chances tonight. We had the bases loaded a couple of times, but it didn't work out for us."
Nevada took a 2-1 lead into the seventh, but Cameron Castro, who wiggled out of a jam in the sixth, gave up two walks and two hits as the pearl took a 3-2 lead. Griffin Kirsch came on and allowed two more runs to score to make it 5-2.
Zach Hendrix doubled and scored on a single by Rudy Strnad to make it 5-3. The Pearl added another run in the eighth to complete the scoring.
Nevada took a 1-0 lead in the second when Strnad walked, stole second and scored on Colby Blueberg's single.
After the Pearl tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the third, Nevada took a 2-1 lead when Brooks Klein scored on the back end of a double steal. Hendrix was thrown out at second on the play.
That set the stage for the disappointing eighth inning.
Hendrix led the Bullets, going 3-4 with a double. Colby Blueberg went 2-for-4.
