The present month is notable as figuring conspicuously in the category of evil prophecies based upon heavenly bodies. The universe has passed through some of these crises without disaster. It is just as safe to say that it will survive the crisis which is predicted to occur the 19th distant. When the majority of the planets in the solar system will be on one side of the sun, and the earth on the other.

The I.O.O.F. Grand Lodge is holding its session in this city today. The Rebekahs also are in session, which gives Carson a lively appearance. The train this morning came loaded with delegates from the different lodges from the state giving them the opportunity to get acquainted with this city and its people.
70 YEARS AGO
Richard Lawrence Waters Jr., son of Justice of the Peace "Dick" Waters of Carson City, graduated a few days ago from Southeastern University, Washington, D.C. With a degree in law. Waters was one of eight members of the 325 member graduating class on the honor roll.

At least eight persons were killed in traffic accidents in Nevada this weekend. One head-on crash took five lives.

Supervisors are considering a change to municipal code to allow the Mills Park Events Center to be built without an automatic sprinkler system.
