Obituary: Donald Lester Kimball

On June 12, 2011, Donald Lester Kimball left this world, surrounded by family and friends, for his next great adventure with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was born June 23, 1934, with his identical twin and best friend, Robert Kimball. Don has one sister, Janet Kimball. He grew up in Southern California, and graduated from Monrovia Arcadia Duarte High School in 1952.

Don was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War as an intelligence officer. In 1958, Don married Wilma Ray Turner of Sonora, Calif., and was blessed with two beautiful children, Brett Kimball and Melissa "Kimball" Seymour.

Donald was a travel director for S&H Travel and traveled the world before becoming a prominent businessman in Northern Nevada. With his brother Don, he formed Travel Systems Ltd. and in 1975 they became the proud owners of the M.S. Dixie at Zephyr Cove Resort, Lake Tahoe.

In 1999, Don sold the companies and began enjoying the fruits of his hard labor - retirement, spending time with family and traveling the world. Don shared his love for traveling with his family, taking them all over the world on fantastic adventures.

He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served faithfully in his church callings and made many lifelong friends.

He is survived by his sister, Janet G. Kimball of San Diego; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Karen Kimball of Gardnerville; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Randy Seymour of Fallbrook, Calif.; and grandchildren, Kristi and Jennifer Kimball of Gardnerville.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; his twin brother Robert Kimball; and his parents Arthur and Dorothy Kimball.

A service will be Friday June 17th at the Church of Latter-day Saints, 1095 Spruce St., Gardnerville. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. with the funeral following at 11 a.m.
