130 YEARS AGO

Yesterday morning the editor of the Appeal received a certificate of full membership to the Order of Damphools, an organization recently started in Eureka to fill a want long needed. The document consisted of a large piece of parchment with printing in an elegant style, like a a college diploma. Within a few years the organization should boast a membership larger than the Masons.

100 YEARS AGO

The coming summer practically put all the mountain streams over their banks. The river is well out of its banks at Empire while the Kirman field above the Indian School is flooded. An auto party coming from Reno was stalled at Galena Creek. One auto was put out of commission when it's electrics came in contact with the water.

70 YEARS AGO

Twenty-four alert Nevada boys and girls will compete in Reno July 1 for the title of safe driving champion of the state. The driving contest is one of nearly 50. Representing Carson City will be Marian Rabe, Daniel Priest and Roy Spencer.

50 YEARS AGO

The Carson municipal swimming pool will be kept open until 10 p.m. Friday, pool manager Dave McDonald announced.
