The Nevada Bullets proved that a good start doesn't translate into a win.
The Bullets jumped to a 2-0 lead, but the Atwater Aviators scored the next 10 runs and grabbed an 11-3 Far West League win Tuesday afternoon at Western Nevada College.
The teams collide today at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader at WNC.
Nevada took a 2-0 lead in the first when Chris Woolley walked, moved to second on an infield out and scored on a double by Brooks Klein. Beau Day followed with a double to score Klein.
Atwater got one back in the second on a solo homer by Nick Lynch. Atwater added three in the third to take a 4-2 lead. Julien Pollard hit a solo homer to lead off the inning and ex-Douglas star Ryan Laing later added a two-run shot off Tyson Flannery, who gave up eight runs and six hits in four innings.
Flannery gave up four more in the fourth, three coming on Spencer Branigan's homer, the fourth round-tripper that Flannery allowed. Flannery came out on the short end of an 8-2 score.
Nevada scored its last run in the fifth when Sean Brown singled, advanced to second on a balk, moved to third on an infield out and scored on a one-out error.
The Aviators closed out the scoring with two runs and three hits off ex-Carson star David Charles and added one in the ninth off Chris Prokupak.
Nevada managed six hits, but nobody had more than one. Kevin Christy allowed three runs and four hits in 5.2 innings of work to get the victory.
