(Continued from Friday) The court turned to Buckley and asked, "Do you know what became of these Terrapins? Buckley couldn't say for sure, but when he sat down for dinner Sunday there was terrapin stew on the table. His wife said she found a lot loose in the yard and supposed they grew there (laughter). On motion of the prosecuting attorney both cases were dismissed and Buckley agreed to send to the Bay for more terrapins if Randolph would take dinner with him on Saturday. Hillyer and Belknap are quite put out they have not been included.
100 YEARS AGO
The submarine Grampus, with Lieutenant J. P. Olding of Carson in command, rammed the torpedo boat Rowan and itself had a narrow escape from being sent to the bottom yesterday afternoon. The little craft was surfacing and sighted the Rowan bearing down on it. Olding rang for full speed astern and put the Grampus wheel to starboard. The Grampus was not damaged.
70 YEARS AGO
Henry ("Hank") Emmons died in Reno last evening from pneumonia. Little is known about Hank other than he was born in Michigan 86 years ago and has been employed of the Glenbrook Company the past 34 summers as the Market Fisherman. Hank was the last of the men that fished the east side of Lake Tahoe and served as a guide to thousands of guests at Glenbrook. Mr. Emmons wintered in Carson City. He will be buried at Glenbrook.
50 YEARS AGO
Ormsby District Attorney John Tom Ross said today he will file charges against Gov. Grant Sawyer, State Controller Keith Lee and Attorney General Foley this afternoon for violating Nevada's Open Meetings Law. A reporter stated he was refused entrance into a meeting between the Reno City Council and Washoe County Commissioners on the routing of Interstate 80.
