Hooligans win again

The 11-12 year Carson City Hooligans team rolled to an 18-5 win over South Tahoe on Friday in Sparks.

The Hooligans had great hitting and defense said manager Kurt Meyer.

Meyer said he was proud of the way the the team battled back and finished the game after allowing Tahoe to score some runs to close the gap.

The 3-0 Hooligans play at 2 p.m. Sunday against Fernley at Shadow Mountain Sports Complex.


Bullets fall in extras

Despite a 3-for-5 day at the plate from Brooks Klein, the Nevada Bullets dropped a 9-7 decision to Fontanetti in 11 innings.

Klein had two 2-run homers and a triple en route to a 4 RBI game.

The Bullets (10-8) took a 1-0 lead in the second when Colby Blueberg knocked in Craig Merideth on a ground- rule double. Merideth had reached on a single.

It was the first of two ground-rule doubles for Blueberg, who also added a single.

Fontanetti would take a 5-1 lead after scoring two in the fourth and three in the fifth to chase Bullets starter David Charles. The lefty, a Carson High alum, gave up four runs on three hits.

The Bullets tied the game with two in the sixth and two in the seventh. In the sixth Klein tripled and scored on a single by Beau Day.

Day stole second and moved to third on a passed ball and later scored on a groundout by Ray Daniels.

In the seventh, Klein hit his first homer of the game.

Fontanetti scored two in the ninth to go-ahead. Klein wouldn't be denied, homering again to send the game into extras.

In the 11th, Connor Oliver was relieved by Blueberg after allowing a pair of walks. Both runners would score. The Bullets couldn't rally in the home-half of the inning.

The teams square off again at 1 p.m. today at John L. Harvey Field.


Ransom leads Aces

RENO - Cody Ransom hit his 19th home run, fell a single short of the cycle and drove in six runs Friday night, leading the first-place Reno Aces to a 16-7 win over Las Vegas in the series finale at Aces Ballpark.
