RICHFIELD, Utah - Western Nevada College's softball team paid the price for two bad innings on Saturday en route to being swept by Snow College in a Scenic West Conference doubleheader.
WNC lost 10-1 and 8-0 to drop to 3-12 in conference play.
Tied at 1 in the fourth inning of the first game, the Wildcats gave up seven runs and five hits and never recovered. The game stopped after five innings because of the mercy rule.
Niki DiCera doubled home Melanie Pfeiffer in the first inning for WNC's only run. Pfeiffer and DiCera led WNC with two hits apiece, while Sarah Cudahy and Ashley Gleason collected one hit each.
Cassie Vondrak took the loss, yielding 11 hits, walking two and striking out one.
In the nightcap, Jamie Klopatek yielded five runs and four hits as the Wildcats fell behind early and never got untracked. Ashley Hall threw two innings in relief, allowing a run and a hit. Vondrak threw the final inning of the five-inning game and allowed two runs.
WNC managed just two hits, a single by Cudahy and a triple by Vondrak.
