Waddell & Reed Inc. recently announced that Jeff Whitaker, a financial adviser in the company's Minden office, has been named to the company's President's Council, one of its highest honors for the firm's financial advisers.

The President's Council award is given to only 12 of Waddell & Reed's financial advisers, out of its national network of nearly 2,400 advisers. The award is presented annually by the firm and is based on an analysis of investment, insurance and financial planning sales generated by the advisor.

This is the eighth time that Whitaker has earned this honor. As a member of the council, he will meet periodically with firm management and other advisers, discussing ongoing goals, management issues, products and client service issues.

Whitaker has spent 30 years as a financial adviser with Waddell and Reed. He ran a tax preparation business from 1979 to 1984 and was an instructor in the Financial Planning Certificate Program for The University of California Extension from 1982 to 1992.

Whitaker managed a division office for Waddell & Reed in Riverside, Calif., from 1982 to 1993 and moved to Carson Valley in 1994.
