130 YEARS AGO

Last fall the Washoes were about the city casting their eyes toward the heavens and predicting a winter whose rigors would exceed anything ever known in Nevada. Notwithstanding their prognostications the winter has been uniformly mild and already grass is growing from the earth. The Indians doubtless think it a good idea to get up a scare each fall to look forward for the future.

100 YEARS AGO

The snow slide that destroyed Jordan and the power plant means the suspension of work at Lucky Boy, Bodie, Aurora, wonder and many other mining clamps along the line. There will be no power till summer.

70 YEARS AGO

Among the interesting displays of articles on exhibit in the basement of the state library in Carson is of hemp bags of charred bones believed to be those of early Indians, who were cremated following death.

50 YEARS AGO

An X-15 rocket plane flown by Maj. Robert White streaked to a record of 2,650 miles an hour today in a giant step in man's attempt to fly to the edge of space.

20 YEARS AGO

A bill authorizing Clark County to collect for the planning and creation of a habitat for the threatened desert tortoise was introduced in the Assembly.

10 YEARS AGO

Wanda Bachelor, a grant writer for the Washoe Tribe and tribal council chairwoman was honored with the Nevada Women's Role Model Award by Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa.
