Signups for the Carson SYFL are scheduled for Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Pizza Factory, located on Highway 50 East.

The program accepts boys and girls from 6 to 14 years of age.

Carson Valley hosts

golf tournament

The annual St. Patrick's Day Golf Tournament is scheduled fro Saturday at 10 a.m. at Carson Valley Golf Club in Gardnerville.

The cost is $40, which includes golf, continental breakfast, lunch, $10 prize fund and a green ball. For season pass holders it's the usual fee plus $20.

It's a scramble format. You can form your own team or you can be put on a team. For more information, call 265-3181.

Sporting Clay shoot

set for March 26

The Carson City Gun Club is playing host to the Builders Association of Western Nevada's shooting event on March 26. The evnt starts at 10 a.m. and is open to the first 65 shooters. Lunch and awards are scheduled after the shoot.

The cost is $50 per shooter, which includes lunch and 100 rounds of ammunition. Go to www.bawn.org for more information.

World Series trophy

stopping in Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The San Francisco Giants will bring their World Series trophy to South Lake Tahoe as part of their nationwide tour to give fans a chance to see the trophy in person.

A public viewing of the San Francisco Giants World Series trophy is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. April 2 at the City's Parks and Recreation Center Complex, in the Gymnasium at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

The event is free and open to public.

Spurgin rolls 300

at Gold Dust West

Steve Spurgin had games of 278, 300 and 242 for a 820 series in the Monday Men's Trio at Gold Dust West. Allen DeYoung bowled a 299 game in the same league.

Dayton boosters host

golf tournament

The17th annual Dayton High Boosters golf tournament is being held May 15th at the Dayton Valley Golf Club.

The tourney gets under way at 9 a.m. The cost is $85.00 per person which includes greens fees, cart, lunch and a raffle ticket. You can enter as a single or a four person team.

There are prizes for closest to the pin, long putt, long drive, money hole and hole in one. There are also team prizes.

Highway 50 lead

Dayton Inn. O.G. Squeeze and VC Miners are tied for first place in the Highway 50 lead in the Carson City chapter of the American Poolplayers Association.

The thre teams have 33 points apiece, one better than Collateral Damage. Bill Howard of the VC Miners leads the 6-7 tier with 10 points. Perry Levy, also of VC Miners, leads the 4-5 tier with 22 points, two ahead of Gregory Theis of Pocket Puppies and Clifford McCain of VC Miners. Barbara Burton of Collateral Damage leads the 2-3 tier by one point over Shawn Wilson of Dayton Inn.

Rack Busters leads the Comstock Division by three points over All Work & No Play. Alex Gutierrez of Dean's Machine leads the 6-9 tier by seven points over Don Allred at Kenneth Gabbard, both of Rack Busters. Jeff Cordova of All Work & No Play leads the 4-5 tier with 28 points,seven better than Timothy Kane of All Work & No Play and Christopher Skelley of Dean's Machine. Caren Adkins of Tied & Soldiered leads the 1-3 tier by 10 points over John Leedom of Scratch Masters.

The Spoke and Twisted Stix With Attitudes are tied for the lead in the Black Widow Division. Don Allred of Good Guys & Bad Guys leads the 6-7 tier with 31 points. 19 ahead of Juan Pina of Twisted Stix. Eric Dereng of Jerry's Shooters leads the 4-5 tier with 27 points, seven ahead of Cues yer Daddy's Mike Snoddy. Rachel Hurt of Cues Yer Daddy leads the 2-3 tier with 19 points, three ahead of Caren Adkins of The Spoke.

Alt F4 leads the Mosconi Division by two points over Unintntional Defense. Jack Parish of Unintentional Defense leads the 6-7 tier with 30 points, 13 ahead of teammate Robert Haddix. Christopher Skelley and Joshua Stewart, both of AltF4, are running 1-2 in the 4-5 tier with 20 and 16 points, respectively. Josiah Toledo of Rack Fink leads the 2-3 tier with 20 points, five better than Jerrika Wendt and Markus Ricard, both of Jerry'ds Kids.

Wolf Run Golf Club

is now open

Almost all of the snow has melted off of the golf course, and all 18 holes are now open at Wolf RunGolf Club in Reno.

Until May 16, greens fees are $40 seven days a week and $25 twilight after 3 p.m.

Carson, Douglas swimmers

perform at All-Star meet

Members of the Carson Tigersharks and Douglas Dolfin swimmers represented the Zone 4 division at this year's Pacific Swimming All State Meet in Pleasant Hill, Calif. last weekend.

The Zone 4 team, the smallest in the field, finished in last place.

Brett Kolb of Carson (9-10 boys), Kelsey Bradley and Kaly Branco (11-12 girls), Dagen Kipling (11-12 boys), Elizabeth Everest (13-14 girls) and Charlee Bradley (13-14 girls) represented Carson.

Clara Gray (13-14 girls), Adam Dack (13-14 boys) and Logan Killion (13-14 boys) represented Douglas.
