Jottings: There will be a free temperance lecture at the Opera House. No collection.

Mr. Charles W. Friend has been appointed to the office of State Meteorologist. He is thoroughly familiar with meteorological and astronomical matters as any other gentleman of the State.

The cupola of the Capitol building is assuming a seedy appearance, so far as color is concerned. The national colors which were put upon it for a joke are again seeking the light of day in a most sickly style. Give it another daub of paint, for decency's sake, if for nothing else.

Buffalo Bill: Buffalo Bill's oldest daughter, Miss Arta Cody, is a chip off the old block. She is described as a magnificent queenly looking young woman with as much courage as her father.

Income tax: Many Americans are putting their minds to the subject of individual and business income tax returns with the March 15 deadline nearing.

50 YEARS AGO

Irish Shenanigans: Irish luck will smile on some fortunate person at St. Theresa's Irish Shenanigans. The fun festival, sponsored by St. Theresa's parish for the support of St. Theresa's school gets under way with a Basque dinner. Special Basque refreshments will be served by Johnny Borda and Dominic Oxoby.
