Tree trimming: The trees in the Capitol square are being trimmed in the manner that the Legislature trimmed the finances of the State - very low.

Jottings: The Episcopal church is being beautified by a coat of new paint.

St. Peter's: It is expected that the new pipe organ for St. Peter's Church will be in operation. Mrs. D.A. Bender, to whose efforts probably more than any other person in Carson, is due the presence of the organ, received a letter from J.A. Paine of Oakland. The organ built for Carson is "the clearest voiced and best constructed" ever turned out on the Pacific Coast ... built by Mr. Walley who is now in Carson placing it in the Church. - Tribune.

70 YEARS AGO

Driver's License Law: Agreement was reached on AB 259 which gives Nevada a driver's license law. To be administered by the highway department.

50 YEARS AGO

Mrs. G.W. (Swede) Russell ticket chairman proudly displays a few of the works of art donated by area artists for the Carson-Tahoe hospital benefit currently being conducted, 51 paintings worth $3,012 are being placed. Mrs. James Calhoun chairwoman.

Blackouts hit a wide swath of California closing businesses, jamming intersections and putting 1.2 million customers into the dark. These were the first outages since January related to California's power

crisis.
