Last curtain call for Carson Performing Art's'Back to the '80s'

Carson Performing Arts will present the musical comedy, "Back to the '80s" one more weekend at the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson Community Center.

Will Corey ever beat the big man on campus to win the heart of the girl next door? The show features every famous song from the '80s from Madonna to Michael Jackson plus plenty of mullet hair cuts and flashdance styles.

Remaining shows are at 7:30 p.m. March 25, 26 and 2 p.m. March 27. Tickets are $8-10 and can be reserved at boxoffice@carson.K12.nv.us.

Get your dancing shoes on

High Sierra Swing Dance Club and the Carson Nugget present the Sierra Swing Showcase April 2-3 in the Nugget's upstairs ballroom, 507 N. Carson St., Carson City. Dance contests and workshops for adults and youths are interspersed with open dancing to a variety of DJ music.

The Swing Into Spring Formal Dinner Dance and "Local Celebrities Who Think They Can Dance" contest is Saturday, 6 p.m.-midnight. The full two-day event plus dinner dance until April 1 is $40, ($50 after April 1); competitions and open dancing $10/day; spectators only $5/day; dance workshops $5 (schedule TBA); competitions entry: $5/person/contest; dinner dance $30 (advance tickets only; numbers below). Sinfonia concert to features Reno honor student

To celebrate the culmination of its 19th year, the Carson Valley Violin School will present a free concert at 4 p.m. Sunday in Minden's CVIC Hall. The performance will highlight students from the school as well as from the affiliated studios of Carol Fancher Seebach, Carson City, and Helen Jones of Gardnerville along with the Carson Valley Sinfonia.
