Many thanks to educators
A huge thank you to the families who join PTA, come to meetings, return phone calls, read the newsletter, buy, sell cookies, candles, gift wrap, T-shirts, or whatever we are offering to help pay the bills, and ensure that their children take responsibility for their education. We know how difficult it is to be a parent these days, and you are the sort of teammates that teachers pray to get each year. We are proud to serve you.
Thank you to all the creative paraprofessionals with whom I have had the opportunity to serve. Without you, I would never have made it. You are the foundation of special education, and see so much more than I.
Thank you to the office staffers who are the front lines of our schools. You put on a happy face every day before you head into the trenches and keep us all sane. God bless you all.
Thank you to my countless colleagues who spend so much of their own money to supply their classroom and students, work late into the night, come in long before contract hours, and spend far too many of their weekend and holiday hours grading papers, calling parents, training, creating entertaining lessons, writing reports, and making sure students get what they need to be successful. You know who you are. Chin up, baby.

Crab Feed participants created successful event
The Carson Host Lions Club would like to thank all those who attended our recent Crab Feed, which was held at Fuji Park on March 11. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and helps to fund the many projects that our club has been associated with here in Carson City over the last 79 years.
We also would like to thank the many businesses that contributed to the success of our raffle and silent auction items, helping us reach our goal of nearly $10,000 in net proceeds from the event. The Bethlehem Lutheran Youth Group once again did an outstanding job serving our guests, and we appreciate their assistance very much.
Lions Club International is the world's largest service organization and is focused on seeing to the needs of those visually impaired. We also provide scholarships to local students, sponsor the Kids Fishing Day at Fuji Park, as well as numerous other donations throughout our community.
We hope to see you all again next year. For those interested in receiving more information concerning our club may call me at 775-291-1241.

Thanks for successful Safe Grad fundraiser
Through the past couple of months, the Carson High School Safe Grad Committee and I have had the extreme pleasure of meeting and working with Dick Campagni's Capital Ford's manager Tim Milligan and Suzanne Peckham.
On March 19, Capital Ford's staff came down to Carson High with 20 of their 2011 Ford vehicles. Tents, banners, tables, and carpet runners were set up amidst the snow and wind to make an instant mock dealership to raise money for Carson High's Safe Grad for the Class of 2011.
Despite this major setback, Milligan and his crew were all smiles and happy to go on to give Carson City an opportunity to test drive any of their cars with no sale pitch or call backs, unless requested.
I cannot express how grateful the committee, myself and co-president Julie Cowan are to Capital Ford, a top-notch company with an amazing staff who donated time to support our Carson High School seniors.
I also would like to thank the people of our community who came down to support this event. Many residents answered phone calls and text messages that day agreeing to face the weather and help out while enjoying the opportunity to check out a new vehicle.
Thank you to those parents and committee members who helped to host this event and sat outside against the weather all day: Mike Cowan, Brian Collings, Val King, Theresa McClelland, Shelly Plaut, Jane Brinson, Bob and Patti Shores, Melaine Mason, Debbie Nicholson, Laura Fernandez, Rhonda Price, Alli Cowan, Conner Beattie and Matt Cooper.
It is an event like this which makes me grateful to live in such a wonderful town that is always so quick to lend a hand and help support a good cause. Thank you to all who made our event a success and especially to Capital Ford for giving us this wonderful opportunity.
