St. Peter's Episcopal Church will host the workshop "Articulating an Authentic Faith," presented by best-selling author and lecturer Frank Schaeffer, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 2 for the church's annual Lenten Lecture Series.

In addition, Schaeffer will present a free introductory lecture 7-8:30 p.m. April 1.

Many people get tongue-tied when attempting to share their faith and church community with others in the face of loud voices focused on what to believe or not believe.

Schaeffer, the author of "Patience with God - Faith for People who Don't Like Religion (or Atheism)," describes a hopeful vision for genuine faith in a messy, mysterious and unexplainable world full of contradictions and paradoxes.

"Crossing the Divide," a music program and forum on cultural and racial healing will be presented in two area churches on Saturday and Sunday.

This inspiring musical program features Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Connye Florance and her husband Kevin Madill, jazz pianist.

"Crossing the Divide" will be presented at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Saturday and at Carson Valley United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. Sunday. There is no charge. An offering will be collected.

Connyerolinian descended from slaves, and Madill, from Indiana where the Ku Klux Klan once flourished, have been married for 16 years. Their different backgrounds inspired "Crossing the Divide," using music to encourage communication about differences and seek reconciliation. A discussion time will follow the concerts.

Temple Bat Yam is inviting all to celebrate a Passover Seder 6-8 p.m. April 19, at the Blue Angel Chateau at Heavenly, 3819 Saddle Road in South Lake Tahoe.

Passover commemorates the exodus of the Isrealites from slavery in Egypt.
