DAYTON - Around 50 participants, along with 15 Stand Tall volunteers, raced in Dayton's Healthy Communities Coalition 5k on May 14 at Como Park.

There were many prizes, plus a game of Find the Chicken (a ceramic chicken found on the trail), and a costume contest for runners showing their best Maroon Spirit.

Prizes were awarded to the first three winners, for male and female adults, and youth.

The run raised $800 and will be split between the Dayton Resource Bank and the Stand Tall scholarship to be awarded at the end of each school year.

"It was a great event for the community to join together and get healthy," said organizer Lavurne Jeffries. "We look forward to making this an annual event, and making it bigger and better with each year. A special thank you to Lindsey Kreller and Darren McKay."
