The Douglas and Carson High swim teams concluded their seasons Saturday afternoon at the NIAA 4A State Championships at the Carson Aquatic Center.
Douglas' Mary Smithen was the state runner-up in the 50 free with a time of 24.40 seconds, getting touched out at the wall by Bishop Gorman's Amy Lubawi.
Smithen teamed with Shaelin Morefield, Meagen Skilling and Elizabeth Cruz to finish second in the 200 free (1:42.34).
Carson's Elizabeth Everest was eighth in the 500 free (5:33.26). Douglas' Shaelin Morefield was seventh in the 100 fly (1:00.36) and eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.37)
Clara Gray, Cruz, Sarah Koontz and Skilling took eighth in the 400 free relay (3:55.90). Skilling, Morefield, Cruz and Smithen finished eighth in the 200 medley relay (1:55.37).
Douglas' Samantha Phillips was seventh in the diving competition, followed by Amber Taylor in eighth.
On the boys' side, Douglas' Kyle Johnston took sixth in the 200 free (1:48.67) and seventh in the 100 fly (54.71). Carson's Tim Grunert took sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.03).
Douglas High's Cody Funk took fifth in diving, followed by Michael Darby in sixth.
Johnston, Kyle Jenkins, Janosch Lancaster, Cameron Johnson finished seventh in the 200 free (1:35.85).
Carson's 400 free relay team of Zachary White, Ashton McIntosh, Gary Showalter and Tim Grunert took eighth in 3:34.80.
The Douglas girls' finished seventh in the team standings while the boys finished ninth.
