Silver State gymnasts fare well

SPARKS - Silver State Gymnastics Academy's Level 3 team took first place at the recent Monster Mash meet hosted by Gymnastics Nevada.

The win was spearheaded by Elianna King who captured the all-around title in the middle age division with a second-place finish on vault, bars and beam, and a first in floor exercise. King was closely followed in second place by teammate Emily Lewis who finished first on vault, bars, beam, and fourth on floor.

Riley Glynn placed third on bars and second on floor to capture all-around third place AA medal. Gracie Walt did her part by putting in a solid performance in her second meet to finish seventh in the all-around.

In the older age division, Madison Adams placed first on vault, bars, and floor, and third on beam to win the all-around title.

The Level 4 team won the second place team award, just behind Gymnastics Nevada. In the younger division Rosalia Daulerio had a good meet winning vault and third place in the all-around. Hailey Glynn had a consistent day to finish fourth. Alycia Hellwinkel won beam and finished third on vault and floor to earn her fifth place. Elle Liebendorfer placed second on bars and sixth AA.

In the older age division Brenna Mitchell lead the way by finishing first on vault, second on beam and floor en route to the all-around crown. Brianna Wiles was second on vault and floor, giving her third place in the all-around. Sophia Taggart was solid on all four events allowing her to capture fifth place, while Isabella Daulerio was seventh. Chloe Walt placed eighth.

Lily Reid competed in the Level 5 Division. She was first on vault and bars, second on beam and third on floor to finish second in all-around.

Murray wins top flight at Carson Valley

John Murray fired a net 67 to win low net honors for the A Flight at the Carson Valley Men's Club stroke play event on Oct. 30.

John Dorman was second with a 70. Bill Allen won Flight B, also with a 67. Matt Lindsey was second with a 72. John Guidicatti won Flight C with a 70, one stroke better than Gerald Bing.

Rogers, Maxwell team up for victory

Mike Rogers and Roger Maxwell finished with 93 points to win Flight A of the Empire Ranch's Modified Stableford Tournament on Oct. 26.

Joe McKenna and Richard Gwinn were second at 89. Norm Scoggin and Myron Carpenter won Flight B with 94 points, four better than John Sullivan and George Allison.

Lund, Best win at Silver Oak

Dick Lund and Luther Best shot a net 59 to win Silver Oak's Senior Men's Club 6-6-6 Ryder Cup on Oct. 18.

Jim Pursel and Doug McGilvray were second with a 63, while the teams of Bob Lewis and Alex Talmant, Dick Green and Bob Lewis and Lee Gilmore and Mel Younker were tied for third at 64.

Johnson group win pro-am at T.C.

Phillip Johnson teamed with amateur partners Tom Barrios. Louis Saroni, Mike Wilson and Jon Francescott to win the Thunder Canyon Pro-Am recently.

Second place went to the teams of Greg Wenzel (pro), Dick Wenzel, Bianca Daykin, Tyler Daykin and Terry Schumacher, and Scott Bolen (pro), Bill Whitehead, Howard Jones, Matt Gelso and Chris Handel.

Steve Hummel shot 67 for the low pro score on the day, while Joe Peroglio was at 69 and Johnson was at 72.

Wolfpack wins soccer event

The Carson FC Wolfpack U13 team topped Castro Valley United 1-0 to win the Placer United Prestige Cup in Roseville last weekend.

The game came down to a set play that saw defender Eva Swearngin accept a 20-yard throw-in from Galilea Cid. Swearngin sent it across the goal to Hannah Mora, who headed the ball over the goalkeeper to Heather Huene who finished the play.

The Wolfpack opened tournament play with a 1-1 tie versus the Mustang FC Strikers. In their second match, the Wolfpack faced the Monterey County Red Blizzards and easily won 4-0. On Sunday morning, the Wolfpack played to a scoreless tie to reach the finals.

The Placer United Prestige championship capped a banner year for the Wolfpack, in which they reached the finals in six out of seven tournaments including wins at the Comstock Shootout, NV Elite Zephyr Cup and Placer United Prestige Cup.

Additionally, the Wolfpack has won consecutive Championships in the Great Basin Youth Soccer League while "playing up" an age level which included an undefeated 8-0 record this fall in the U14 Gold Division.

The Wolfpack will conclude its season Nov. 19 at Edmonds Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to noon when it takes part in Carson Futbol Club winter evaluations which are open to all players interested in playing competitive soccer that are not currently associated with a GBYSL competitive team.

Jr. Midgets win playoff opener

The Carson Senator Jr. Midget team won its first playoff game against the Sparks Wolfpack on Friday night 32-0.

Connor Pradere ran for a 10-yard touchdown and threw for a 25-yard score to Johnny Cavilia in the first quarter. Donald Hurst and Dylan Wemheuer scored on 7-yard runs in the second half while Alex Estrada completed the scoring with a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter. Carson held the Wolfpack scoreless with solid defensive play from Tez Allen, Jarod Butler, Tristen Martel, Gage Gunzburg, Conner Larkin, Jordan Warren and Nolan Hogan.

Carson goes on the road for the semifinal contest against the Sparks Steelers Friday at 8 p.m. at the Golden Eagle Sports Complex.

Tiny Mites end year with win

The Carson Pop Warner Tiny Mites finished out their season with an 18-0 shutout over Fallon.

Vinny Ferretti, Alan Mayoral-Escobedo and Shane Ewing all scored touchdowns for Carson.

Cheerleaders need some help

A Carson City Pop Warner cheerleader squad qualified for the upcoming regionals on Nov. 25 based on their performance at a local event at North Valleys High School in Reno on Oct. 22.

Eight of the 16 girls recently received scholastic awards. The squad is made up of local girls aged 11 to 15.

The squad is looking for any local businesses who would be willing to either donate money for the upcoming meet or offer a matted practice facility. The squad currently practice at Governors Field, but is looking to move indoors as the weather gets colder for safety reasons.
