Flora Mandeline Bunt passed away peacefully at her home with members of her family on October 7, 2011. Mandy was born on November 9, 1926, in Birmingham, Alabama as the only child to John Roy and Charlotte Petty. Her childhood was spent in Pensacola, Florida before moving to San Francisco, California to attend nursing school at Mt. Zion Hospital. As a cadet nurse she received her Registered Nurse training which she completed in February, 1947. She worked as a Registered Nurse and retained her license for 40 years.
On March 22 1947, She married her love and partner forever, Albert W. Bunt Jr., of San Rafael, California. They had three sons: Albert W. Bunt III of Carson City, Paul S. Bunt of Groveland, California and John D. Bunt of Washoe Valley, Nevada. Her husband, Al preceded her in death on June 2, 2004. She is survived by her sons and four grandchildren, Will Bunt of Ringwood, Oklahoma; Michelle Bunt of Menlo Park, California; Katie Bunt of Washoe Valley, Nevada and Melissa Soule of Reno, Nevada.
She enjoyed worldwide traveling with her husband, Al and time she spent at the family ranch at Greeley Hill, California. In September of 2005, Mandy moved from Antioch, California to Carson City, to be closer to her family. She was involved in community activities with various organizations, which included being a volunteer at the Carson Tahoe Medical Center until, February of 2011. Also she became involved with the 'Red Hats' women's organization and was a past director of the Kings Canyon Meadows Property Owners Association,
Mandy enjoyed helping others and was a true free spirit which was apparent in her strong, independent nature. She loved the beauty and tranquility of Northern Nevada with its variety of natural wonders, rural lifestyle and friendly people. She will be deeply missed by all of those who loved and knew her.
A memorial service will be held on November 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends at FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City. Donations to your favorite charity can be made in her name.
