Other schools throughout the school district also are honoring Veterans Day this week.

Carson High School will hold its Veterans recognition ceremony 10:45 a.m. today in Senator Square. The public is invited to attend.

Eagle Valley Middle School students are displaying the names of veterans on banners in the hallways of the school.

Students at Seeliger Elementary School celebrated Wednesday with an online chat with Sgt. Brent Peden of the Nevada Army National Guard Division 485 of the Military Police, who is deployed to Afghanistan.

His mother, Kolleen Miller, sister Kimberly Gordon, and daughter Makayla Peden, a second-grader at Seeliger, talked to him via Skype.

The student body and staff of Seeliger Elementary gave their thanks to him for his service.

Mike Shaughnessy, retired from the U.S. Army colonel introduced 40 veterans who attended the assembly to the students. 

Music teacher Mary Law and her students presented a program as well.
