Sunday law: The Courts of California have declared constitutional a new "Sunday law" where business of all kind is suspended on Sundays - stores and saloons are closed and only hotels and barber shops are permitted open.

120 YEARS AGO

Tahoe Schottische: Camille Spooner, adopted son of M. Spooner, the lumber man has composed a "Lake Tahoe Schottische." It is no great shakes to write a piece of music up at the Lake where the woods are full of music and when gazing on that beautiful sheet of water.

70 YEARS AGO

History of Nevada Museum: District Judge Clark J. Guild was the guest speaker at the 20-30 Club held at Hunter's Lodge. He gave an interesting history of the Nevada state museum related to obtaining, renovating and repairing the old mint building and the raising of funds. He stressed the fact that old relics of historical nature in this state are needed to be placed and preserved.

50 YEARS AGO

Churchill County Nuclear Tests: Atomic Energy Commission officials announced tentative plans to conduct a five kiloton underground nuclear blast. The area under consideration is a rock tunnel. A commission spokesman emphasized the experiment would not be authorized without full assurance of public safety.

Manners are back: The Ronald Reagan family (President Reagan) is setting a new lifestyle in the White House and turning America around on its social graces - calling the process Nancy's national finishing school.
