Consort Canzona will present two performances of Noel Antiqua which includes Christmas music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Early Baroque periods. The first concert will be presented at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Brewery Arts Center. Admission is $8. A second free concert is scheduled at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at Shepherd of the Sierras Lutheran Church in south Carson City.

Canzona is a local musical ensemble that dedicates itself to the study and performance of early music from the 13th century through the mid-18th century.

Instruments included in the ensemble are harpsichord, cello, and soprano, alto, tenor and bass recorders.

Consort Canzona was organized in the summer of 2009 when a library of early music providentially fell into the hands of Sharon Kientz who promptly discovered several other musicians with an interest in early music and an excitement about forming a group.

Since November 2009 when the Consort presented its first concert at the Brewery Arts Center, sponsored by the Carson City Music Club, the musicians have had a busy schedule of performances.
