Canzona is a local musical ensemble that dedicates itself to the study and performance of early music from the 13th century through the mid-18th century.
Instruments included in the ensemble are harpsichord, cello, and soprano, alto, tenor and bass recorders.
Consort Canzona was organized in the summer of 2009 when a library of early music providentially fell into the hands of Sharon Kientz who promptly discovered several other musicians with an interest in early music and an excitement about forming a group.
Since November 2009 when the Consort presented its first concert at the Brewery Arts Center, sponsored by the Carson City Music Club, the musicians have had a busy schedule of performances.
