REPORT CARD: Carson 27, Manogue 24

Offense: Not one of Carson's better efforts, but I attribute that more to playing a good opponent for the first time in three weeks. Manogue keyed hard on Dylan Sawyers, but he still managed 133 tough yards on 23 carries despite being sick earlier in the week and now has 13 TDs on the year. QB Matt Nolan had an off day, accounting for just 71 yards of offense. He too was not 100 percent. Chance Quilling did a nice job on a halfback option pass to find Sawyers in the end zone.

Defense: The Senators' defense probably gives the coaches some gray hair every week. There are times when they play well and other times when they get dominated like the first drive of the game when the Miners went 84 yards for a score, and the first drive of the second half when the Miners ran the ball 10 straight times on a 69-yard scoring drive. Quilling had two interceptions and Brock Pradere had a fumble recovery when Cayze Velez stripped Manogue's Forrest Hansen to set up Austin Pacheco's game-winning 64-yard field goal.

Special teams: It was an interesting day for kickers because of the wind. Pacheco's 64-yard field goal to win the game with 27.4 seconds left was the longest in Northern Nevada since 1985. It was the second game-winner of his career, the first coming against Douglas two years ago. He had trouble kicking into the stiff breeze, registering punts of 6 and 13 yards, respectively in the first half. He did get off a 31-yarder into the win. Pacheco, with the wind, put three kickoffs through the uprights and had a low liner for a touchback in the fourth quarter.
