Pianist, guitarist, songwriter and recording artist, John Nilsen, will perform at 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church.
The concert highlights Nilsen's folk/jazz/classical-woven compositions, some traditional hymn arrangements and stories of his life, family, faith, career and travels.
Nilsen, a Seattle native who tours internationally, is an innovative performer who creates an intimate repartee with audiences.
"As a performer, I like exploring beyond the boundaries of my recorded songs. It gives me the chance to offer something special, spontaneous and personal to my audience. The entire performance hinges on the connection not only between the players, but with the audience as well."
Like many artists, travel, outdoor activities and family are rich sources of fuel for Nilsen's creative drive. Nilsen translates his experiences into music that inspires his audiences to look more carefully, to feel more deeply and to celebrate this life of ours.
The concert is free and an offering will be collected for the artist.
