130 YEARS AGO

The Appeal says every man that catches a fish or shoots a goose should follow the age old tradition of leaving some of the items of the chase at the editor's office. Those who do not are just lowering the tone of journalism. The press will find it profitable to organize a regular system of blackmail on the hunting and fishing fraternity.

100 YEARS AGO

The report reaches this office from the Capitol that The Appeal is too (darn) smart in publishing happenings in that edifice before they are ready to be made public. The Appeal believes all business transacted in that building should be public property as soon as it is born. That is not a secret service agency over there - at least, it should not be one.

70 YEARS AGO

William Lewis Jr. has graduated from flying school at Pensacola, Florida and will receive his commission as an ensign in the United States Navy.

50 YEARS AGO

Gov. Grant Sawyer was expected to return this week from a string of speeches in Ely and Las Vegas to talk at the Nevada 4-H Club's annual Citizen-Leadership Camp at Lake Tahoe.

20 YEARS AGO

The Mills Park ice skating rink is not dead, City Manager John Bergich announces after bids come in $300,000 to $1,000,000 over budget.
