Obituary: Allen L. McNitt, Jr.

Beloved husband and father, Allen L. McNitt, Jr., of Washoe Valley, NV passed away June 4, 2011 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Reno, NV.

The son of the late Virginia and Allen L. McNitt, Sr., of CA, he leaves his wife Betsy and daughter Amanda of Washoe Valley; daughters Diane Johnson of Greenwood, CO; Andrea McNaughton of Evanston, IL; Veronica Smith of Littleton, CO; six grandchildren; and brother James Michael McNitt of San Jose, CA.

Allen was a graduate of Burlingame High School and Standford University in CA, and Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI. He retired as Captain from the U.S. Navy Reserves and had enjoyed subsequent memberships in the Naval Order San Francisco Commandery, The Naval War College Foundation, The Navy League and the USS Okanogan APA 200 Organization.

Formerly he was President of Ralston Investment in Burlingame, CA; was appointed by two governors Administrator of the Housing Division for the State of Nevada; and was Vice President for the investment management at Lehman Bro., NYC; Bank of America Investment Mgmt Co.; and Wentworth, Hauser and Violich in San Francisco.

Memorial services will be held in the south pavilion of Washoe Lake State Park, Monday, September 19, 2011, 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, Allen would have encouraged all to thank a veteran, support military families, and donate to organizations which protect all life and freedom under God.
