Raffle and silent auction items are being sought for a fundraiser Friday night at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar in downtown Carson City to benefit the victims of the Sept. 6 IHOP shooting.

According to P.J. Degross, who helped organize the event along with business owners Susan and Jeff Melvin, said the fundraiser is from 7-10 p.m. at Jimmy G's, 301 N, Carson St., at the corner of Carson and Proctor streets.

There will be three DJs on hand, a drink special with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the victims or their families, a silent auction, raffle and a cupcake sale called, "Life is short, Eat a Cupcake," in honor of Miranda McElhiney, a skilled baker.

McElhiney, a sergeant in the Nevada National Guard, was killed along with soldiers Lt. Col. Heath Kelly and Master Sgt. Christian Riege and civilian Florence Donovan-Gunderson when a gunman opened fire at the Carson City restaurant. Before turning the gun on himself, Eduardo Sencion also shot seven others. Their names have not been released.

Degross said the proceeds from Friday's fundraiser will be divided among all 11 victims of the shooting.
