Woman held in hit-and-run of boyfriend

A Carson City woman, sought by authorities for four days after allegedly running over her boyfriend after an argument, was arrested at her home Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators had been looking for Crystal Amber Trujillo, 25, since her boyfriend, Shiloh Richards, 30, was run over by a car Thursday at the intersection of Steamboat and Fairview drives. Trujillo was booked into the Carson City Jail at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor domestic battery and leaving the scene of an accident.

"Since the beginning, we've been getting information on her whereabouts but were always an hour behind her," Sheriff Ken Furlong said Tuesday. "The public information provided to us was outstanding. As a result, we were able to close that gap and grasp the opportunity to arrest her today."

Trujillo was arrested about 11:30 a.m. at her home in the 1700 block of Southridge Road. She declined to speak to investigators.

According to police reports, Trujillo and Richards had been arguing in Trujillo's car Thursday at the intersection of Truckee and Steamboat drives when Richards got out of the car and began walking west on the southbound sidewalk of Steamboat Drive.

Witnesses told police Trujillo made a U-turn and drove up onto the sidewalk, catching Richards with the hood of her 1997 Toyota Camry and carrying him into the intersection. When Richards slid off, she ran him over, said Capt. Ken Sandage. Sandage said reports indicate she then backed over him, then drove off southbound on Fairview Drive.

Richards was in critical condition Tuesday.

"He is fighting for his life," said Furlong.

Trujillo, who is being held on $40,000 bail, is scheduled to be arraigned today in Carson City Justice Court.
