Gold Hill Theater features 'Sylvia' - a romantic comedy about a man, his dog ... and his wife

The Gold Hill Theater Troupe and Gold Hill Hotel present the heart-warming Broadway comedy "Sylvia," at 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 5-20.

"Sylvia," by A.R. Gurney, is the love triangle of a man, his new dog (played by a female actress), and his jealous wife.

In the story, Greg, played by James Godwin, finds Sylvia, a street-wise stray dog played by Michele Crain, and brings her home. His wife Kate, played by Kimmie Huffman, isn't too thrilled with the idea of adding a dog to their empty nest, or sharing the affection of her husband with a mutt.

Tension increases between the couple as Greg becomes obsessed with Sylvia.

Tickets for the dinner and show are $25 (plus tip and tax), or $10 for the show only.

'Frankenfollies'

Also in October, Gold Hill Hotel presents "The Frankenfollies: Vampire Vaudeville at Its Best," written and directed by Karen Wright and Will Rose.

The dinner theater production is presented at 7 p.m. each Friday in October starting Oct. 7.

The show, hosted by the Devil Himself, is the Annual International Association of Monsters Talent Show Finals. The audience gets the chance to see, hear and meet the best of the beasties from all over the world and vote for their favorite supernatural being.

Cost is $45 (plus tip and tax), which includes a four-course gourmet dinner. The show only is $15.
