As part of Wildfire Awareness Week, a variety of events and displays will be featured from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28 at Mills Park.
The event is sponsored by local, state and federal firefighting agencies, the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and other organizations.
Those attending with have an opportunity to meet their local firefighters, visit with vendors displaying products and services to help the public prepare for a wildfire, and practice proper fire extinguisher use with representatives from the state fire marshal's office.
Planned for children are a visit to the fire safety house where they can practice how to safely exit their home during a fire, a visit with Smokey Bear, and a chance to explore helicopters and fire engines.
Members of Warren Engine Co. No. 1, an all-volunteer fire department that supports the Carson City Fire Department, will have a food booth where hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and beverages will be available for purchase.
