This summer, the Nevada Department of Transportation and local governments will have vital road improvements under way, including completion of the I-580 connection through Pleasant Valley and an Incline Village traffic roundabout.
There was one death and almost 700 crashes in Nevada work zones last year. Many crashes were caused by unsafe driving.
NDOT is dedicated to the safety of its work zones. Warning signs, speed reductions, protective barriers, detours, lane closure alerts and flaggers are put in place to assist motorists.
To make travel through work zones as safe as possible:
• Always use seatbelts.
• Keep space between you and other vehicles.
• Take it slow and obey speed limits.

With these safety tips, work zones can be a safe place. It is more important than ever to be aware during National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 23-27.
