Mrs. Addie Julia Mathews Patterson, age 93, passed away on July 31, 2012 at Carson Tahoe Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1919 in Coffee County, Alabama and was married to Alfred A. "Pat" Patterson, who survives her, and her constant companion, "Happy", her dog.
Mrs. Patterson was retired from civil service at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama where she attended the Air Force University, earning college credits and was honored with the Library of Science Degree. Her career spanned over 30 years and she loved her work.
Mrs. Patterson is survived by one son, Daniel Richard Lawton of Oregon House, CA; two daughters, Mary Frances Noel Worth of Sacramento, CA and Nancy Jane Patterson Sidley of Vass, N.C. Surviving grandchildren are Melanie Buckley, Mat Lawton, Danny Lawton, Scott Lawton, Kim McFate, Karry Fernandez, Jimmy Worth and David Worth; many nieces, nephews and loving friends as well as 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Leola and Baker Webster Mathews; sisters, Lela Mae Ward, Mary Eunice Barron, Lizzie Lois Pugh, Sallie Mable Barron, Annie Hazel Stanfield and Edna Colleen Holmes; her brothers, James Michael Mathews, Charlie Webster Mathews and Gillis Howard Mathews. She was also preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Annette Lawton Heater.
Services of remembrance for Mrs. Patterson will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11am at Capital Baptist Church with Reverend Lance Hale officiating. Interment will be in Troy, Alabama.
Mrs. Julia Patterson was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by those who loved her so much. May she rest in peace until resurrection morning when she will be reunited with her loved ones.
