WASHOE VALLEY (AP) - A 15-hour manhunt south of Reno ended peacefully with the surrender of a Washoe Valley man who had allegedly threatened a woman with a gun at Davis Creek Park.
Washoe County Sheriff's deputies say 53-year-old Michael Paszek turned himself in to law enforcement just before 10 a.m. Monday. They say the 62-year-old woman he allegedly battered and threatened Sunday had a protective court order against him.
The woman fled and alerted authorities at the fire station near Bowers Mansion about 6:30 p.m. before she was treated at a Carson City hospital.
A SWAT team temporarily closed a stretch of old U.S. Highway 395 and evacuated the park campground.
Paszek was booked Monday on suspicion of domestic battery, false imprisonment and violating an extended protective order. Bail was set at $10,500.
