Thirteen Dayton school buses had their windows broken with rocks sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
The buses, parked in the bus yard behind the Dayton High School were stoned, causing dents in addition to the broken windows.
"The only evidence we have is the rocks," said Sgt. Johnny Smith. "They smashed out almost every window on the buses."
Smith, public information officer for the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, said the school district is offering a $500 reward for help in finding those responsible.
The damage was estimated at $2,785.
Because the buses were no longer safe to drive without the windshields, "the process for picking up kids" Tuesday was delayed, he said.
The buses are considered inoperable until the windows are fixed. Those with information about the incident can call secret witness at 775-463-5251.
