Letters to Santa

Dear Santa,

I'm writing to you to tell you about a little buddy of mine. His name is Mason Reilly. He just turned 9 years old this past October. Mason is a great kid! He is very helpful at both home and school.

Mason helps me personally by putting my glasses on so that I can see, helps get his chicken, ketchup and cinnamon applesauce ready. He can fix his own bottle of milk, gets dressed pretty much by himself, brushes his own teeth and washes his face while I comb his hair.

Mason (who has Down syndrome) would love to get a video game and a rainbow-colored Dream Lite Unicorn Pillow Pet for Christmas this year. Because he has been so good, both at home and school, I hope you can get these items for him.

Thank you very much,

Jacquie Reilly

Erwin Priester, first grade,

The thing I like about Christmas is the presents.

First, the things that you can get. For example, soccer games on Xbox 360. Another example, you can get toys like wrestlers. I like them because they beat each other senseless. You never know what it can be behind the tree can be something amazing.

I wish it was Christmas every day.

For Christmas I want an Easy Bake Oven and an Under the Sea set and a Nintendo that's blue. And some surprises!

Maddie Roberts, first grade

Minden

The thing I like best about Christmas is that I get to spend time with my family.

The first thing I like about Christmas is that I get to spend time with my family, like opening presents with them. We all take turns opening the presents and saying, "Cool, look what I got!"

Sometimes we get to go on the computer and track Santa. When we track Santa on the computer, it's like we are tracking Santa in the sky without all the lines and such. We get to track Santa on our phones, which is better.

One time when I was six, I saw Santa on the computer and he was only two houses away from us. We had to turn off all the lights and go to bed and then he came.

Jocelyn Foster, third grade

Carson City

The thing I like most about Christmas is trees.

One reason is that the lights shine like snow and they're all one color. On the trees, decorations look pretty and look better on the trees. Next, you can choose it and cut it, also look which one you're going to pick and put it up. Also, they smell like fresh pine and like tree branches.

Christmas is the happiest, jolliest month.

Luis Carrillo, third grade

Carson City

The thing I like the best about Christmas is spending time with my family.

The thing I like is I get to spend time with my family because we get to make cookies for Santa and they are so good. They have sprinkles and a Santa face on it. We also give him milk too.

The best thing is the movies. We get to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and that's my favorite movie about Christmas, and "Frosty the Snowman."

Hot cocoa is the best. It has marshmallows and chocolate straws. My mom makes the best hot cocoa ever.

That Christmas was the best one ever. I got a lot of stuff. Even a dirt bike. I was really good that Christmas and it was the best Christmas. I bet I am going to do good this Christmas too.

The best thing about Christmas is playing with my cousins.

I like playing with my cousins. I play hide-and-seek. I also like movies because the movies I watch are full of action and mystery. I buy pop corn.

My favorite memory was watching movies with my family and playing with my cousins.

Omar Munoz, third grade

Carson City

The think I like about Christmas is watching Santa travel.

The way I mean is when he delivers to cities it is cool. There are red lines for bad, green for good children. But for medium children are orange lines on the computer. You could do it! There's even a tool down at the bottom. It's called the "time left" tool. It tells you how much time you have left till he gets to your home. If you wake up and he's still driving and has been there, there will be a present where the tool was.

I remember when I was four, I looked at the computer and Santa was one block away. All of that is on my computer screen.

Ben Kahue, third grade

Carson City

The thing I would like is a Lego Mario and a remote control four wheel and a book.

Nicholas Lick, first grade

The thing I like most about Christmas is presents.

My favorite thing is toys because they are fun. Also, they are not hard to build and toys that are most played get played more. Also, I like games because they're filled with action and hard missions.

My favorite memory is going to my cousin's house to celebrate Christmas.

Alexis Zavala, third grade

Carson City

The thing I like about Christmas is Santa.

He is funny because he laughs when he drives the sleigh and that is why I think he is funny.

Santa likes my cookies because my mom makes them good for Santa. He likes my milk and cookies.

I love Santa. Santa has a "nice" and "naughty" list that tells who is good and bad.

I hope he comes to my home on Christmas Eve.

Bella Gonzales,

third grade

Carson City

The thing I like most is my family and joy.

One reason is that it is a happy family and everybody is smiling at each other.

They're being nice to each other and saying thank you. Everybody is being normal until we open presents, it turns wild and then they quiet down.

Christmas is a wonderful season. My memories show that I get a new game. I was so excited.

Alan Mayoral, third grade

Carson City

The best thing I like about Christmas is cookies. A cookie is good. For example, chocolate chip cookies. A cookie is also crispy, I mean crunchy.

For me, Christmas is a spectacular time of the year.

Mario Morgan, third grade

Carson City

The thing I like about Christmas is having fun.

Toys are fun to play with because it might be your dream toys that you dreamed about for a long time. Candy is fun to eat because you can taste different ones if there's more for you.

I wish I could share my fun with everybody.

Hailey Jeffries, third grade

Carson City

One of the best things about Christmas is watching Christmas movies with my family. I like that the best because watching movies is fun. I like happy movies, not sad movies and Christmas movies are the best.

I also like eating Christmas cookies. Another reason is we also eat candy and cupcakes when we watch movies. My mom and me make cookies, make cupcakes and sometimes we make a big cake too.

Finally, we snuggle when the movie is over and fall asleep and that is why I like Christmas movies the best.

Kimberly Burgara, third grade

Carson City

The thing I like most about this season is playing.

It is always very funny when my brother or cousins trip and fall on the ground. It is even funny when all of us get tricked. It's very fun when we play hide-and-seek tag or just hide-and-seek. But, the best game is tag. My brother says I run like the wind and I hardly ever get tagged.

I remember when all my cousins gathered together and played tag.

The thing I like best about Christmas is the presents.

For example, in the morning I go to my brother's room and wake him up. He is very mad but excited. We feel jumpy when we go down our stairs. I jump two by two because I'm excited.

Toys are fun to play with because it feels like they're alive and I can play catch with them.

Presents, presents and presents are the best thing ever, I hope I get more.

Andrew McMenamy, third grade

Carson City

I want to give you a present of cookies and milk. My favorite toy is girlie and a castle. I wish my room was a castle. I love you Santa.

Carson City

The thing I like about Christmas is the Christmas tree.

For example, the ornaments glow like glowing stars, and they also look like sparkly jewels. The lights on the tree bloom like colorful daisies. The star is the one on the tree that twinkles like crazy.

Christmas is the jolliest, funnest time to go shopping.

First, there are things in stock and the store is filled. There are gifts and toys and tons of other things, giving rooms rosy glows. You can also see women crocheting and delicious food samples. It makes you smile to think what your friends' and families' faces will look like on Christmas morning receiving your presents.

Second of all, there are many lights and decorations. There are reindeer and Santa and lights twinkle like stars. There are many colors in a jamboree that make you feel the Christmas spirit.

Last, there is a wonderful, gingery smell that wafts through stores, and you cal feel Christmas in the air.

Christmas is the holiest, jolliest time of the year!

The best thing I like about Christmas is Christmas movies.

I think Christmas movies are cute because when kids get their presents they are happy, also their moms and dads. For example, being with our families watching movies feels good because hanging out with our families is special for me and others.

Also it is about giving. I think Christmas movies are special because the memories that we had watching movies.

Christmas is the best thing to watching movies!
