Over 350 retired and senior volunteers and their guests were recently honored at a Christmas luncheon held at the Carson Nugget. The event paid tribute to the hundreds of volunteers who will provide over 120,000 hours of service to the community this year. Gladys Brister, an RSVP volunteer and retired Carson City sheriff’s deputy, was presented a special gift for her 32 years of service to the RSVP fairs. Brister was also recognized many times by the Western Fairs Association for her work in fairs. Special recognition was given to Carson City Toyota-Scion for sponsorship of the Fourth of July fireworks and RSVP Programs. The Nevada Appeal was acknowledged for publishing the weekly Volunteer Connection column.Kathy Hanson, RSVP and AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, was honored for winning the Shining Star Award from the Nevada Caregivers Coalition as well as commendations from Sens. Reid and Heller, Gov. Sandoval and Rep. Amodei.
