Surrounded by family, Edith Mitchell passed away quietly at C.T.R. Hospital, on Saturday Dec. 22, 2012.
She was born to Philip and Louise on July 11, 1923 in Glendale Calif. To her great joy her first great granddaughter; Amelia was born the same day 78 years later. She always called Amelia her twin.
Edith grew up in Glendale in Southern Calif. In August of 1946 she married the love of her life Ross Mitchell, enjoyed 63 years together, and raised two daughters Deborah and Marlene. Her parents; her sister, Barbara and husband preceded Edith in death.
Edith is survived by daughters, and son-in laws, Deborah (Gene) and, Marlene (Lee). She is also survived by her five grand-children and spouses, Thomas (Lu Ann), Brent (Valerie), Annie (Ryan), Michael, Travis (Amanda); and six great grand-children, Amelia, Allie, Thomas, Brayden, Seamus, and Cirrus, who called her Granny Bird.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 412 W. Musser Street Carson City, NV, on Saturday Dec. 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Carson City, Rebekah Colfax #1 Virginia City, or the Carson City Emblem Club.
