Four area basketball teams have managed to reach the NIAA playoffs, which start tonight.
The Carson High girls' basketball team opens tournament play tonight at home against Spanish Springs. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Morse Burley Gym.
Spanish Springs defeated Carson at Spanish Springs in the only regular-season match-up between the schools. Carson is coming off a loss to Bishop Manogue and a win over Galena.
Elsewhere tonight, Douglas draws Reed. The Raiders, who won the High Desert League, will host the 7 p.m. game.
On Wednesday, the Douglas boys will host McQueen at 7 p.m.
On Friday, the Dayton boys host Lowry at 6 p.m. in a 3A game. The winner of that game advances to the state tournament. The state finals are in Reno this year.
