After almost eight years in business, a bad economy and "complete lack of winter" has driven Comstock Home & Hearth out of business.
According to its website, www.comstockenergy.com, its entire inventory of stoves, fireplaces, barbecues, trucks, tools, office equipment and more is being liquidated. Phone and email messages to the store were not returned Monday.
The answering machine states that the store, located at 529 Fairview Drive in Carson City and with a banner advertising the sale out front, is open for the liquidation sale Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
While it is selling all of its inventory, the website also advises that it won't be doing any more warranty work, installations, service calls or cleanings and suggests customers contact the manufacturer for service information.
"With the economy as bad as it is and the complete lack of winter this year, we were unable to keep up financially," the website reads. "We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our customers and our friends."
The store was opened in spring 2004 by two longtime friends from eastern Washington, both of whom had experience with fireplace and chimney shops.
