It is reported that the elegant residence of one of the most prominent citizens here is haunted by "spooks." The neighbors say that the dead hours of the night the most unearthly and mournful sounds emanate from that house. A gentleman who is well acquainted with the family says it is true; that the trunks in the closets dance about, chairs tip up and back, and other furniture frequently does queer antics.

The general complaint in taking off the stub train from Mound House and Wabuska was highlighted in the striking example last Sunday when a theatrical company had to hire teams from Churchill to Virginia City in order to make connections. Left was a lot of scenery and costumes for another day.
70 YEARS AGO
Getting identification cards and being fingerprinted was one of the major interests of the Carson Pilot Training students this week. Regulations now require all pilots to carry identification cards containing finger prints and two letters recommending loyalty to the United States. Several more airplanes were brought to Carson City this week.
50 YEARS AGO
Baby gifts were showered on Mrs. John Tom Ross at a party Thursday evening in the Paul Laxalt home. The shower was timely, District Attorney and Mrs. Ross became the parents of a boy, Tom two days later.

Petsmart opens its newest store in Reno. The store is the only kind that allows customers to bring their pets into the store.

Carson City's biggest "skyscraper" may get $100,000 in development funding to improve the Bank of America building's facade.
