A 31-year-old Carson City woman was arrested during the weekend after a Carson City Sheriff's Office investigation into the alleged use and sale of methamphetamine at her residence.
Brandi Petty was booked Saturday on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a drug house at 1015 E. Second St. She also was charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of 80 hypodermic needles and had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants - one for violation of a suspended sentence and one for contempt of court - out of Carson City Justice Court.
Total bail was $30,500.
Special Operations Sgt. Brian Humphrey said officers had been investigating the house for three weeks after receiving tips about meth possibly being sold.
According to the report, a nine-member Special Enforcement Team gained access to the residence on Saturday afternoon, and a search yielded the following: two small bags of marijuana and homemade pipes; A black oval case with numerous clear plastic bags and several pieces of a crystal-like substance that tested "presumptive positive" for meth; about 500 more plastic bags from a safe that "are consistent with narcotic packaging," along with the needles and a red plastic straw with suspected meth residue. Another bag was found with 2 grams of methamphetamine in it, the report said.
Petty's boyfriend, Nathan Miller, told deputies that he and Petty had smoked meth together earlier Saturday but that they were low on it. He said Petty was waiting for a call from a person in Reno, hoping to score more meth, when authorities arrived. He also said that she flushed some meth down the toilet before letting authorities inside the home.
Miller was not arrested due "to his honesty and cooperation," the report said.
When Petty was booked, she told jail staff that she had money stuffed into her bra. More than $2,807 was removed.
