Carson City leaders will put heads together during strategic-planning workshop

Carson City officials and department heads will get together Thursday for their annual strategic planning workshop, and they are expected to spend the bulk of their time discussing last year's goals and objectives and establishing this year's.

Among the topics for discussion is the Carson City Scorecard, a detailed program for measuring how the city is doing in meeting the objectives of the Board of Supervisors.

The workshop also will include discussion of financial projections and recommendations for the city's public opinion survey.

The meeting will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff's Administration Building, 911 E. Musser St. Go to www.carson.org to download an agenda and a complete information packet.

• The Parks and Recreation Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

New Commissioner Brett Long will be introduced, after which the commission will hear updates regarding the purchase of the Bently property, the Kings Canyon to Ash Canyon Trail project, the Lakeview Park Trailhead, Carson River Park Phase 2 and the commission bylaws.

Commissioners are scheduled to elect a commission chairperson and vice chairperson, to approve scheduling a parks and facilities tour this spring and to determine a possible course of action and recommendation regarding the House of Representatives' American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act transportation bill.
