Olson appointed head of ESD

Renee Olson has been appointed to head the state's Employment Security Division.

She is currently chief financial officer for ESD's parent department, the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

Frank R. Woodbeck, director of DETR, said she will bring "the profound sense of leadership and strategic acumen that a position of this magnitude requires."

"I am confident in Ms. Olson's ability to continue to direct the Employment Security Division on the right path, as we continue to provide job training and unemployment benefit assistance to a record number of Nevadans."

Olson replaces Cindy Jones, who left to take a position as deputy director for Nevada's Department of Administration.

Olson has served as chief financial officer for DETR for three years and is responsible for DETR's budgeting, fiscal analysis, accounting, financial reporting, purchasing, and inventory functions.
