We have had a great week being back from the winter vacation. We returned to a week filled with activities for Winterfest centered around the theme of Dr. Seuss' literary works.

Our halls were decorated with witty pictures and sayings from Dr. Seuss. It made for a light-hearted week back.

So to the students of CHS, make the spring semester count. From the words of Dr. Seuss himself, "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who'll decide where to go."

NHS GIVES BACK

National Honor Society members have been very busy for the last couple of months. We had a very successful coat drive. Students collected 88 coats that went directly to our elementary school and to Kids in Transition program. A big thank you to Casey Reid and Jason Rush who helped deliver the coats.

NHS members collected two large boxes of toys for Toys for Tots program. They also adopted 13 kindergartners from the Kids in Transition program and donated Christmas gifts from their wish lists.

NHS is hosting a blood drive 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the small gym of Carson High. A free T-shirt and refreshments will be provided.

Also a free cholesterol test is available with each donation. Any community member is welcome to sign up.

Please, consider helping out our community. The sign-ups are available at bloodhero.com, the code word is Senators.

TALENT SHOWAUDITIONS

Auditions for the Carson High School Talent Show are 2 p.m. Thursday in the downstairs cafeteria. Students must all show up for sign-in at 2, but auditions may run past 4 p.m. We are looking for a lot of talent in natural and in fun ways.

Students should see Mr. Reedy if they have questions.

We hope the community will make note to attend the actual show 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Carson Community Center. Contact Brian Reedy at breedy@carson.k12.nv.us for more information.
