A grand-opening event is set for Monday at the Sierra Nevada Health Center on Research Way in Carson City.

Complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a reception, the celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3325 Research Way. Speakers include Mayor Bob Crowell and Nevada Health Centers Inc. officials William G. Gordon, board chairman, and Thomas G. Chase, CEO.

The reception after the program features refreshments, hors d'oeuvres, guided tours of the new building and entertainment.

The facility is one of 17 health centers throughout the state operated by Nevada Health Centers, a non-profit company.

It is one of the largest run by NVHC and was funded through the Health and Resources Administration with money from the federal Recovery and Reinvestment Act and a Carson City Community Support Grant.

The new building increases capacity in comparison with the previous Sierra Family Health Center.

It will continue offering family practice and preventative health care.

The public is encouraged to attend the grand opening, but NVHC would like advance registration via RSVP by calling 775-888-6625 or emailing pguzman@nvrhc.org.
