Obituary: Clinton "Clint" Weston Block

Clint was enveloped into the loving arms of Our Heavenly Father on July 6, 2012 at 2:22 in the afternoon. Clint's strong faith in Jesus Christ never faltered during Clint's entire horrible ordeal with Necrotizing Fasciitis.

Clint was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved grandchildren Josh and Audi Brooks, his special nephews Jerry Charles Schafer, Del Shane Block And his great-niece Dashila Chavez. His parents Bill and Margaret Marie Block, His father-in-law William Franklin Squyres, Sr. and his mother-in-law Delouris Veronica Swenson-Squyres, his brother Sonny Block and his sisters-in-law Sylvia Block and Sally Dee Squyres-MacDonald. As well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and others who knew this truly special man. At one point shortly before leaving us, Clint commented, "This room was getting damn crowded!" That was our Clint.

He was proud of being a Native Nevadan. Our family now has six generations of Native Nevadans! We proudly celebrate our family heritage the last weekend of every June. This year he attended by his photo worn by Glendanne, his wife of nearly 50 years. Clint didn't want to miss the reunion! Clint was born at his grandmother's home on Beach Street in Reno, Nevada. (It's now a park,) He spent his youth living on their family ranch in Spanish Springs, Nevada. They raised turkeys, chickens, pheasants, Chinese pheasants, ducks as well as having an amazing garden. Clint loved riding horses, roping, shooting, and just being a boy. He was an accomplished accordion player who auditioned for Lawrence Welk, but was drafted into the military. There are enough stories of his youth and childhood to fill a book!

He absolutely loved vehicles. He thoroughly enjoyed working anything with a motor or an engine, or mechanical parts of any type. He loved making cars, trucks, boats, and airplanes go faster and run even more efficiently. He owned Block's Automotive, a local automotive repair shop in Carson City for several years. He had fun racing and even named our Corvette "Bandit" because it collected so many tickets! He was fascinated by space and space travel. He worked on building the rockets to take spaceships into the sky. He was a charter member of the USS Battleborn starship in Starfleet. Yes, he was a Trekkie and proud of it! He was a life-long Nevada Democrat. His favorite channels were History, Science, Discovery, Sports, PBS, Mysteries, Animals and of course The News! His entire life he cheered for his Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers! He thoroughly enjoyed watching sports, television, and movies with his children and his grandchildren. Every grandchild knows "Jungle Book" by heart! Sharing his knowledge of our magnificent State of Nevada and his love of the ocean were two activities he would share with anyone and everyone.

His skill and ability with weaponry was well known. He was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force and served as a member of the Nevada Air National Guard. He was a proud American and served his country as a member of the government services. He belonged to the Silver Sage Gun Club and won a multitude of trophies and medals.

He graduated from Sparks High School in Sparks, Nevada. He attended American River College in Carmichael, California and University of Nevada at Reno, Nevada.

He was a loyal card-carrying retired member of Operating Engineers Local Union # 3. He was a mechanic for over twenty years. Three of his sons (Brad, Buff and Ollie) have followed their father into Operating Engineers Local Union #3.

He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years Glenda Ann "Glendanne" (AKA Glendanne Squyres); son Bradley Earl/Debbie, grandchildren Vic/April; Bree; daughter Deb "Debbie"/Rick, and surviving grandchild Angelique/Patrick, great-grandchildren Trinity and Brennan; son David/Dee, grandchild Christelle; son Buff Brandon/Sandy, grandchildren Julian "J.B."; Savannah; and son Oliver "Ollie" Weston/Becky, grandchildren Brittany, Madison, and Nate Weston.

Extended family will deeply miss this amazingly talented, funny, and loving man. He leaves behind his brother Cliff Block, his older sister Beverly Casale/ Jerry; and his baby sister Mary Lee Schafer/Chuck, his sister-in-law Mona Block; his brother-in-law William "Bill" Squyres, Jr./Kathy; his sister-in-law Susan Isabel Squyres-McNally; his brother-in-law Garan MacDonald and over two hundred greatly loved nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Each on was a part of Clint's life and was special to him. After all, our Family Motto is to "Love, Live, Laugh and Learn." He would want all of you to remember and to share your own unique memories of him and his life.

There will be a Celebration of Clint Weston Block's Life on September 29th at their home in Carson City, Nevada. The service will begin promptly at 3:00 P.M. (He was always on time!) Grandchildren and family members/friends will conduct the service. We even have a bagpiper for him. We're hoping for an honor guard. After the service, we will enjoy good food, fellowship, telling stories, laughing and yes, crying. At dusk we will release silver balloons with messages for Clint. As he was losing his sight, he became knowledgeable about constellations in the sky. He was loved and he will be missed. Wishing God-speed to my soul mate and best friend. I'll see you on the beach.
